Eyes on the road...
I ditched the idea of the optional steering remote. Functions are limited compared to the credit card remote. I had a better idea. I've modified my remote so the IF trasmitter comes out the bottom side intead of the top. Performance is near flawless. It allows the system to be operated without removing my eyes from the road.
